Duties of the Contractor

CONTRACTOR AND SUBCONTRACTOR
All contractors and subcontractors are required by state law and by contracts with any public authority to pay not less than the prevailing rate of wages. These wages shall be paid in legal tender without any deductions. This statute covers deductions for food, sleeping accommodations or any similar item if this agreement is submitted by the employer to the office and is approved by the office as fair and reasonable.

The Kentucky Labor Cabinet recognizes a contractor or subcontractor as any superintendent, foreman, or other authorized agent of any contractor or subcontractor who is in charge of the construction of the public works and who is in charge of the employment or payment of the employees of the contractor or subcontractor.
